The invention relates to a continuous process with apparatus for energy recovery from a process of electrolysis as a special form of electrocoagulation for wastewater treatment by the resulting gas from the reaction of hydrogen, a technically adapted apparatus for gas purification is supplied to a PEM fuel cell into electrical energy to change. The efficiency is assumed on average with 35 to a maximum of 50%. The electricity costs for the operation of the electrocoagulation are thus approximately divided by half to half. Thus, there is a very economical technology to purify wastewater, which in the overall economic / environmental balance of the process exceeds energy production from biogas in anaerobic digestion.
