FIELD: control systems.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to engineering and computer science. In the method of controlling a technical system by holding an optimum point of the state of a system on aggregated two-dimensional and three-dimensional groups of parameters, data on the operation of a technical system is accumulated; one of the models of functioning of individual units or their subsystems is chosen; data are aggregated into groups of parameters and approximation of indicators to a continuous function is obtained. Limiting values of a function of two or three arguments for functions are determined. During units and process complexes operation, current performance indicators are obtained, which are compared with the values of the approximating or discrete function and estimating the size of deviations of current values from values of the approximating function. By means of approximation of indicators state of individual units or their subsystems is predicted. Obtained indicators and conditions are stored and used as control actions for this or similar technical system.;EFFECT: expanded functionality is provided.;1 cl, 1 dwg
