A contrast enhancement method of a diagnostic medical image, comprising: (a) extracting statistical parameters of an input diagnostic medical image; (b) distinguishing an active pixel area from an inactive pixel area based on the extracted statistical parameter; (c) an adaptive method that applies a probability density function of a corresponding original image to the deactivated pixel region of the input diagnostic medical image and applies a probability density function according to a previously modeled gamma distribution curve to the activated pixel region Obtaining a mapping function; And (d) readjusting an image histogram with respect to the input diagnostic medical image based on the acquired adaptive mapping function.
