Disclosed are a method for estimating a position of a vehicle based on visible light communication considering rolling shutter compensation of a CMOS sensor, and an apparatus thereof. The method comprises the following steps: acquiring a first image coordinate corresponding to a first LED in a first street light from a photographed image; determining a first displacement value of a camera according to movement of a vehicle based on the speed of the vehicle and a first elapsed time taken from a moment when photographing of a current frame in the photographed image starts to a moment when a row in which the first LED in the first street light is displayed among the plurality of rows included in a CMOS sensor is photographed; reflecting the first displacement value to a first world coordinate of the first street light; constructing an equation based on a geometric relationship between the first image coordinate and the first world coordinate to which the first displacement value is reflected; and estimating a position of the vehicle based on the equation.
