Disclosed are a lidar system and a control method thereof and an autonomous driving system including the lidar system. The lidar system includes: a light source array generating a laser beam having the shape of a surface light source by making a plurality of point light sources turned on in a flash mode at the same time, and generating a laser beam having the shape of a linear light source or point light source by making the point light sources sequentially moved in a scan mode; a light scan part moving the laser beam having the shape of a linear light source or point light source generated in the scan mode; and a reception sensor receiving the laser beam and converting the received laser beam into an electric signal through activated pixels. At least one among an autonomous driving vehicle, a user terminal and a server can be connected with an artificial intelligence module, drone (unmanned aerial vehicle: UAV), robot, augmented reality (AR) device, virtual reality (VR) device, and other devices related with 5G services.
