Articles and methods have been described for non-invasive treatment of peripheral neuropathy via percutaneous electrical stimulation of target nerve tissue. Exemplary articles include a support in which an electrode pair is located; A controller attached to the electrode pair through one or more leads; And a power source connected to the controller. The article delivers electrical stimulation through the pair of electrodes to the target neural tissue at a level sufficient to initiate vasodilation of the vascular system in or adjacent to the tissue. The method, on the other hand, includes placing at least one electrode pair adjacent to an area of the skin in close proximity to or close to the target nerve tissue and delivering electrical stimulation to the tissue through the electrode pair. Electrical stimulation is delivered at a level sufficient to initiate vasodilation of the vascular system in or adjacent to the tissue. Implantable systems and methods have also been described for treating peripheral neuropathy via transdermal electrical stimulation.
