The present invention relates to a route-based traffic monitoring method, which practically displays route data for analysis on a monitor screen to be processed as traffic information which can be utilized, and to a monitoring system thereof, and a method and a system for operating a route-based traffic monitoring service. The route-based traffic monitoring method of the present invention comprises: a link-based route data preparation step of preparing link-based route data for analysis; and a traffic information generation step of generating traffic information indicating traffic for each link in accordance with the selection of a user using the analyzed link-based route data.
