The present invention relates to a surround view monitoring (SVM) system having a blind-spot view monitoring (BVM) image providing function, which is operated in an SVM or BVM mode in accordance with a drive state of a vehicle to provide an image optimized to each mode, and an operation method thereof. To this end, according to the present invention, the SVM system having a BVM image providing function comprises: a signal input unit to receive an SVM or BVM operation signal; a photographing unit including front, rear, left, and right cameras; a view conversion unit using an image photographed by the image photographing unit to generate an SVM or BVM image; a first display to display the SVM image; a second display to display the BVM image; and a control unit operating the left or right camera in the BVM mode during the BVM mode, controlling the view conversion unit to generate the BVM image based on an image photographed through the left or right camera, and controlling the second display to display the BVM image generated by the view conversion unit.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2019
