What is proposed is a sliding rail for receiving shoring panels in trench construction, wherein the main direction of extent of the sliding rail defines a z direction, wherein the sliding rail has, along the z direction, a first panel receptacle on a first side and a second panel receptacle on a second side, characterized in that the first panel receptacle is suitable for receiving shoring panels with borders selected from a plurality of different borders, and a system for supporting trench walls, wherein the system has a sliding rail according to one of claims 1 to 10, wherein the system further has at least a first shoring panel and a carriage.
