A PACS database-based medical examination picture distribution system and method, the method comprising the steps: querying medical examination pictures in a PACS database every preset time (S31); when there is a newly-added picture in the PACS database, reading the newly-added picture from the PACS database (S33); recognizing a patient number and a picture examination number from the newly-added picture, and determining, according to the picture examination number, a hospital examination department corresponding to the newly-added picture (S34); monitoring, in real time, the operation state of each doctor workstation in the hospital examination department (S35); when there is, in the hospital examination department, a doctor workstation in an idle state, reading the IP address of the doctor workstation in the idle state, and modifying the operation state of the doctor workstation into a working state (S37); and sending, according to the read IP address, the patient number and the newly-added picture to the corresponding doctor workstation (S38). The method can efficiently and automatically distribute medical examination pictures in the PACS database to doctor workstations in a timely manner for doctors to perform medical examination, improving the working efficiency of the hospital.
