The present invention relates to a composition comprising apamin as an active ingredient for prevention or treatment of gouty arthritis. The apamin, which is an active ingredient in the present invention, has effects of lowering the expression of inflammatory cytokines, reducing the thickness of feet swollen due to gouty arthritis, and increasing a lowered weight loading percentage (%) in gouty arthritis-induced animal models.
