Provided are a location information detection method and electronic school-bag system, said method comprising: a server receiving location information and an identifier of an electronic school bag, sent by said electronic school bag (101); according to said identifier of the electronic school bag, said server determining a limited location area corresponding to the electronic school bag, and determining whether a location indicated by said location information is within the range of the limited location area (102), wherein the limited location area is an area pre-stored by the server and indicated by at least one location area information associated with the electronic school bag; if the server determines that the location indicated by the location information is not within the range of the limited location area, then the server sending the location information to the user equipment (103). Using the described method, it is possible to detect the area of activity of the user of the electronic school bag and thus promptly obtain the location information of the user.
