The present invention provides a nanostructured carbon matrix, in particular such as graphene-, graphene oxide-based or the combination thereof based matrix or a fullerene based matrix, which matrix is modified with the pyrrole benzoic acid derivative with exposed carboxyl groups capable of forming an amide bond. The subject of the invention is also a system of carbon nanostructure, comprising a nanostructured carbon matrix according to the invention and containing such system a biosensor. Moreover, the present invention also relates to a method for the determination of an analyte in a sample. The present invention also relates to the use of the pyrrole benzoic acid derivative for the modification of graphene matrix surface and the use of the biosensor according to the invention comprising a graphene matrix or according to the invention as an electrode in a biofuel cell.
