A method for encoding video data in an encoding process, the method comprising: determining an encoding mode used to encode a current block of video data, wherein the encoding mode is one between a loss encoding mode and a lossless coding mode; determine a color-space transformation process that depends on the encoding mode used to encode the video data; apply a YCoCg-R color-space transformation process to a residual block for the current block, when it is determined that the coding mode is the loss coding mode; apply a YCoCg-R color-space transformation process to the residual block when it is determined that the coding mode is the lossless coding mode; apply a YCoCg-R color-space inverse transformation process in a decoding cycle of the coding process, regardless of whether the coding mode is the loss coding mode or the lossless coding mode; and when it is determined that the coding mode is the loss coding mode, modify a Co component and a Cg component of the YCoCg matrix, with a shift to the left of 1 bit, before applying the inverse transformation process color-space in the decoding loop of the coding process.
