Composition comprising as an active principle an extract of aerial parts of Gynandropsis gynandra, characterized in that the extract comprises at least 3% by weight of polyphenols, expressed in equivalent of gallic acid with respect to the weight of the dry extract, said being advantageously some flavonoids polyphenols, typically with a content of at least 1% by weight of flavonoids, expressed in routine equivalent with respect to the weight of the dry extract, and where appropriate, an appropriate excipient, said extract being capable of being obtained by solid-liquid extraction of the aerial parts of Gynandropsis gynandra in binary mixtures of water and glycerol or glycol such as propanediol, said binary mixture containing water in proportions between 10 and 50% with respect to the other solvent .
