Plant and associated method for the heat treatment of brake pads (2) wherein a surface (18) of a block of friction material (13) opposite a metallic support (12) of the brake pad (2) is heated by means of infrared irradiation within a tunnel oven (3); wherein a device feeding cold air (20) within the oven (3) aspirates environmental air, cools the environmental air aspirated by means of a refrigerating unit (28) and feeds a flow (F) of cooled environmental air against the metallic support (12) during the infrared irradiation heating step, simultaneously aspirating the cooled environmental air before the latter can lap over the block (13) of friction material, in such a way as to locally cool the metallic support (12) only.
