Control method for a motor vehicle that directs / forces you to drive the vehicle with reduced performance in the event of a failure. it is a control method for a vehicle (1) with an engine (5) which, in the event of a failure, guides / compels to drive the vehicle (1) with reduced performance; the control method comprising the steps of: diagnosing the fault, limiting the maximum performance of the vehicle (1) by decreasing the performance of the engine (5) of the vehicle (1) and providing the vehicle driver (1) with early warning of the imminent operation of engine performance decrease (5) before effectively decreasing engine performance (5).
