A turbine is provided for a hydroelectric power station. the turbine has a rotor with a plurality of blades, with the rotor arranged in front of a guiding apparatus (in the direction of flow). The pitch angle of the rotor blades is adapted to be variable. Since the rotor is arranged in front of the guiding device (in the direction of the flow), the flow first meets the rotor and only then finds the guiding device, thus allowing optimal flow conditions for the rotor.
