These are systems and methods for prioritized associations between parent nodes that operate on a time-partitioned channel (tsch) jump network and child nodes installed on one or more home area networks. After startup and startup, a child node looks for one or more available parent nodes in the tsch network. If there are less than a limit number of available parent nodes in the child node's communication range, the child node transmits a prioritized join request to the parent node. The parent node supports prioritized join requests by reserving at least one connection slot for child nodes that request prioritized join.
