Methods are provided by employing a lignocellulosic probe. A method of detecting a lignocellulosic or other polymer is provided. A method for determining the effectiveness of an industrial treatment on the pulp or paper product is also provided. A method for determining a physical property of the pulp or paper product is also provided.
