Noncontact coupling and method for use with an electrical apparatus - The present invention relates to a coupling and various methods of using the coupling. In one embodiment, the invention provides a coupling for use with an apparatus operated by a power supply, which allows the installation / uninstallation of the apparatus without electrical isolation of the source, said coupling comprising: a) a mounting member having a first encapsulated transformer element and suitable controls connectable to the power supply, said member being suitable to be affixed to a structure; and b) a support member engaging with said mounting member, wherein the support member is suitable for supporting or being connected to an apparatus, said support member having other suitable controls and a second encapsulated transformer element capable of conducting energy to an appliance; c) wherein the engagement of the first and second limbs is capable of i) causing current induction in the second encapsulated transformer element, allowing the supply of an apparatus, and ii) is capable of causing a signal to be carried between the controls. and an apparatus for controlling and / or monitoring the apparatus; and wherein disengaging the first and second members does not result in induction and does not result in signal transport.
