Provided is a model sample for evaluating heat treatment, characterised by comprising: a porous, water-absorbent material that is flexible and deformable; and a container capable of accommodating said porous, water-absorbent material in a state wherein said material has absorbed water. Also provided is a method for evaluating heat treatment that uses the model sample, said method being characterised by comprising: a step for making the flexible, porous, water-absorbent material absorb water, accommodating said material inside the container, thereby creating the model sample; and a step for heat-treating the model sample whilst measuring the internal temperature thereof.
