According to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a character blur evaluation method for the display device 20, wherein the display surface 20A of the display device 20 comprises a plurality of lines 20B and the line widths LW of the lines 20B are different. In the state where the stripe patterns 20C to 20E are displayed, the light emitted from the display device 20 is photographed, and from the photographed light, the luminance change in the direction crossing the stripe patterns 20C to 20E is determined. A character blur evaluation method is provided, characterized in that the character blur is evaluated by obtaining the contrast every 20 C to 20 E.
