PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a motor drive device capable of realizing air volume control corresponding to pulsation of single phase instantaneous power when realizing air volume control for a single phase PM motor.;SOLUTION: A motor drive device 100 for driving an electric blower equipped with a single phase PM motor 3 includes: a single-phase inverter 2 that rotates a rotor of the single-phase PM motor 3 by applying an AC voltage to the single-phase PM motor 3; a motor current detection unit 5 that outputs a signal corresponding to a motor current flowing to the single-phase PM motor 3; and an inverter control unit 4 for outputting drive signals to switching elements 211 to 214 of the single-phase inverter 2 with a motor current being input.
