PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that performs processing of classifying document image data of a plurality of documents for each of the chapters.SOLUTION: A character size detection part performs character recognition processing on document image data to detect the maximum character size; a character string extraction part extracts a character string having the maximum character size; a chapter information acquisition part performs processing of extracting the numbers on the basis of a pattern from the extracted character string extracted by the character string extraction part, acquiring the page numbers according to the extracted character string from the document image data, and classifying the extracted numbers for each of the chapters as the chapter numbers.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
