PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coal yard monitoring system and a coal yard monitoring method which are relatively easily capable of configuring a database, while having the database of a simulation of a temperature transition based on a spontaneous heat generation of the coal stored in the coal yard to save the monitoring for preventing the spontaneous heat generation of the stored coal.SOLUTION: A coal yard monitoring system includes a database registered for each case dividing a simulation result of a temperature transition of the coal by a plurality of conditions. The coal yard monitoring system extracts a simulation result based on the conditions from the database; and temperature transition forecast means (calculation processing device 2) for forecasting a subsequent temperature transition of the coal based on the extracted simulation result. One of the conditions is a coal type group for grouping a type of the coal into a plurality of groups based on a temperature diffusivity and a moisture content of the coal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
