摘要

The present invention relates to a method for treating cancer by targeting tumor-associated macrophages. In order to detect and target TAM, we investigated specific markers exposed on the surface of tumor-associated macrophages. The inventors have shown that sideroflexin3, which is not present in normal macrophages, is expressed by tumor-associated macrophages. This is a method for identifying tumor associated macrophages (TAMs) in a sample, comprising i) detecting cell surface expression of CD163, CD68 and SFXN3 markers on a cell population contained in the sample, and ii ) Concerning a method comprising the step of concluding that the cells expressing the CD163, CD68 and SFXN3 markers are TAMs.
