A method for operating a common rail injection system and a common rail injection system are described. The method involves, after charging the piezoactuator to generate at least one injection pulse, recharging it to bring it into contact with the servo valve of the injection system. For this purpose, a measuring pulse is generated in the form of a sequence of identical short individual pulses. This ensures that there is no influence of noise due to piezo oscillations, since the same phase relationship between the measuring position and the beginning of the charging of the detection pulse is maintained for each pulse. Thus, a particularly high signal-to-noise ratio can be generated. Furthermore, a common rail Einspritzsytem is explained, the control unit is designed to carry out such a method.
