The invention relates to a process for the preparation of alkali-rich aluminosilicate glasses with an oxide content (in mole%) of alkali oxides of 4-16 mol%, AlO of at least 4 mol% and BO of 0-4 mol%, wherein the Glasgemenge 0.15 mol% to 0.9 mol% of chloride (e) and at least one refining agent from the group sulphate (s) (indicated as SO), CeO added and wherein the total amount of added refining agent in the mixture of 0.17 molar % to 1.3 mol%.
