The invention relates to a process for the preparation of a nitrogen-enriched organic fertilizer. The method is characterized by the following steps: a) providing animal manure, b) spreading the animal manure on a surface to a height not exceeding a predefined maximum height, c) incubating the animal manure for a first period of time, d) offsetting the animal manure incubated animal manure with a nitrogen-containing organic liquid having a solids content of at least 50% and a nitrogen content of at least 2%, after the lapse of the first period; and e) drying the incubated animal manure treated with the nitrogenous organic liquid. The invention also relates to an organic fertilizer produced by this process.
