The invention relates to a luminous display needle for a portable object such as a watch or a measuring instrument. The portable object comprises a frame (18) in which is housed a power source (16) in electrical energy, the needle comprising a light guide (2) in which is formed a hole for the passage of an axis drive (10), and a housing housing a light source (14) which injects light into the light guide (2). The light source (14) comprises first and second poles (14A, 14B), the first pole (14A) of the light source (14) being connected to the power source (16) via the axis of the light source (14). driving (10) the needle, and the second pole (14B) of the light source (14) being connected to the power source (16) via the frame (18) of the portable object.
