For archival boxes (2) having an upper part (3) and a lower part (5) which are connected by a hinge part (7) forming portion and of which at least one at least two side walls (13, 39, 15, 40 ), for the long-term archiving of documents in particular, a one-piece blank is specified, which is designed with cardboard of lower strength than usual, without losing lock security, with no foreign material is necessary for the secure closure. This is achieved by a locking tab (32) in one of the two side walls (39; 15) which is placed over a tab (19; 25) disposed on the adjacent side wall (13; 40) and into a slot provided in that tab (22, 29). As a result, two adjacent side walls are securely locked together. The blank is designed so that the box (2) can be folded and stabilized entirely without the use of foreign material.
