The present invention relates to a calcium carbonate-titanium dioxide composite having excellent optical properties and a method for manufacturing the same. The present invention provides the method for manufacturing the calcium carbonate-titanium dioxide composite, comprising following steps of: preparing a suspension by dispersing calcium carbonate particles in the calcium carbonate-titanium dioxide composite having a core-shell structure in which a titanium dioxide coating layer is formed on the surface of calcium carbonate particles and a mixed solution of water and ethanol; adding a titanium precursor-containing solution to the suspension to deposit a titanium precursor on the surface of the calcium carbonate particles; and removing the water and ethanol, and then heat-treating the calcium carbonate-titanium dioxide composite having a core-shell structure in which titanium dioxide is coated on the surface of the calcium carbonate particles.
