Disclosed are a method for charging a fare using detection of the number of vehicle boarding passengers and a device thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for charging a fare using detection of the number of vehicle boarding passengers and the device thereof stop a vehicle in order to check the number of boarding passengers in a vehicle. Also, the method captures a driving vehicle, automatically and accurately checks the number of boarding passengers in the vehicle and charges a fare of the vehicle driven in a high-occupancy exclusive lane in order to resolve inconvenience when a police officer or a regulation agent actually identifies with naked eyes. The device for charging a fare using detection of the number of vehicle boarding passengers comprises a multiple capturing part, a boarding passenger number detecting part, an exclusive lane capturing part, a driving vehicle recognizing part, and a fare charging part.
