The present invention relates to a system and method for virtual reality (VR) cognitive rehabilitation training for improving the cognitive ability of an elderly person with mild cognitive impairment. The method comprises: a first step where a control unit (130) receives an external pressure from any one among a plurality of FRSs (111), and then determines whether the external pressure is smaller than a preset threshold pressure; a second step where the control unit (130) performs power-off control for an LED module (140) if the external pressure is larger than the threshold pressure as a result of determination, and the control unit (130) performs power-on control for the LED module (140) if the external pressure is smaller than the threshold pressure as a result of determination; and a third step where the control unit (130) generates packet data including strength of a force applied to the FRS (111) of a smart block (100) by a user, a position value of the block measured by an IR sensor (112), and position values of things around the block measured by a proximity sensor (113). Accordingly, old people suffering from mild cognitive impairment can improve cognitive abilities by actively and pleasantly performing cognitive rehabilitation training. Also, VR cognitive rehabilitation training content and VR cognitive rehabilitation training content can be vividly used.
