The present invention provides a method of preparing a soil conditioner, which comprises the steps of: (a) extracting a cupra fiber from a cupra fabric; and (b) mixing the cupra fabric, sawdust, and a microbial fermented culture to prepare a soil conditioner composition. The method according to the present invention can prepare a soil conditioner which innovatively enhances water retention properties and nutrient holding capacity of poor soils by effectively penetrating water and nutrients into pores of soil by using the cupra fiber with excellent moisture absorptiveness, thereby enabling water and nutrients to be consistently supplied into the soil, and can induce stable growth of plants by improving chemical properties and physical properties of the soil accordingly.
