The present invention relates to the field of network communications. Disclosed is a system for realizing 1588 time synchronization between OTN devices, wherein the system comprises a sending end and a receiving end. The sending end comprises a time-stamping apparatus for time message sending, and a framing apparatus for an OTN overhead frame connected to each other; and the receiving end comprises a de-framing apparatus for the OTN overhead frame, and a time-stamping apparatus for time message receiving connected to each other, wherein two OTN devices are internally provided with the sending end and the receiving end, and the framing apparatus, of the sending end in one OTN device, for the OTN overhead frame is connected to the de-framing apparatus, of the receiving end in the other OTN device, for the OTN overhead frame. Further disclosed is a method for realizing 1588 time synchronization between OTN devices. The present invention enables an interaction involving a time synchronization message between two OTN devices.
