A reactor for generating a gaseous product by reacting a solid reactant with a liquid reactant, and an operating method thereof. The reactor comprises a reaction container (10), a plate body (20), a gas guide tube (63), a gas valve (30), and a liquid funnel (40). The plate body (20) is disposed in the reaction container (10). An acute angle is formed between the extension direction of the plate body (20) and the horizontal direction. The reaction container (10) is divided by the plate body (20) into a lower accommodating space (11) and an upper accommodating space (12). The upper accommodating space (12) is communicated with the lower accommodating space (11). The gas guide tube (63) is disposed on a side wall of the upper accommodating space (12). The gas valve (30) is provided on the gas guide tube (63). The liquid funnel (40) is communicated with the lower accommodating space (11). Multiple grooves are provided in the plate body (20), and are arrayed at intervals in the extension direction of the plate body (20).
