A method and system for measuring virtual economic conditions. The method comprises: generating virtual currency, and obtaining a total monetization amount of the virtual currency; client terminals and merchant terminals exchanging actual currency for the virtual currency; obtaining a circulation volume of the virtual currency; obtaining transaction records; calculating a total amount corresponding to the transaction records in a preset period to obtain a transaction volume of the virtual currency; determining whether the transaction volume is greater than the circulation volume; if the transaction volume is greater than the circulation volume, determining whether a currency demand rate is greater than a preset demand rate threshold; if the currency demand rate is greater than the preset demand rate threshold, determining whether the total monetization amount is less than a preset monetization threshold; if the total monetization amount is less than the preset monetization threshold, executing the step of generating virtual currency; and if the transaction volume is not greater than the circulation volume, executing the step of determining whether the total monetization amount is less than a preset monetization threshold. The method facilitates development of a whole virtual economic system, and effectively assists a virtual economic system administrator in improving and managing the whole system.
