Disclosed are a method and apparatus for realizing remote monitoring in a conference television system. The method comprises: configuring at least one piece of pre-set bit information for each video source associated with each conference television terminal in a conference television system; sending, to a management platform, a terminal identifier, a video source identifier and pre-set bit information corresponding to a video source; the management platform displaying these pieces of received information for a user to select, and then generating a first control instruction according to a selection of the user and sending same to a corresponding conference television terminal; and after receiving same, the conference television terminal adjusting a corresponding video source to a corresponding pre-set bit according to the first control instruction, so as to complete remote monitoring. According to the embodiments of the present invention, there is no need to firstly apply for a chairman and broadcast oneself, and there is no need to invoke a currently captured picture of each conference television terminal, thereby facilitating a user operation, and any video source of the conference television terminal can be taken as a remote monitoring object.
