A method comprising: a control panel (18) of an automation system (10) that protects a secured geographical area (16), by scanning, actively, each of a plurality of radio frequency channels of ESPE I ctro RF default access points other automation systems operating under a format IEEE802.15.4; the control panel (18) which receives and decodes personal network identifiers for any of the access points; the control panel determines a number of access points operating on each of the plurality of radio frequency channels on the basis of personal identifiers network; the control panel that identifies radio frequency channels identified from the plurality of radio frequency channels, in which a number of access points in operation is the smallest; the control panel selects one of the radio frequency channels identified based on a number of radio frequency channels identified and lower relative power of radio frequency channels identified, is received from a scan power in each channel radiofrequency identified when the number of RF channels identified is greater than one; the control panel performs an active one of the identified scanning radio frequency channels to identify network personal identifiers for any of the access points operating in one of the radio frequency channels identified; panel select control, randomly, a personal unique network identifier for the automation system based on personal network identifiers for any of the access points operating in one of the radio frequency channels identified from the active scan ; and the control panel establishes a wireless connection with each of a plurality of wireless sensors (12) secured within the geographical area (16) in one of the RF channels identified in the IEEE802.15.4 format.
