The invention relates to a computer-implemented method for unitary configuring and designing flow-meters and flow-meter combinations meant for both closed pipes and open channels. According to the invention, the method comprises an initial stage of memorizing a reference logic network comprising some possible principle structural diagrams, a unique set of configuration criteria and the order to be followed and the possible response solutions, as well as logical restrictions concerning response correlation, followed by a stage of acquisition and validation of a set of initial configuration data, after which some logic criteria are run through, while selecting only logically valid responses which are consistent with the previous ones, after which, by serially connecting the responses and storing the identified correlation, a global configuration results, which configuration, when validated as new, becomes the configuration of the new principle type of flow-meter or flow-meter combination.
