The method comprises: introducing an electrical energy produced from a renewable energy source in an electrolysis unit (2) to a hydrogen production by an electrolysis of an aqueous medium such as water; feeding a hydrogen stream (6) produced in the electrolysis unit of a reactor unit (3) formed to a catalytic production of a hydrocarbon-containing energy carrier current under use of hydrogen and carbon dioxide, and methanol or methane; and using the produced hydrocarbon-containing energy carrier stream and partially burning required quantities in a combustion chamber (4). The method comprises: introducing an electrical energy produced from a renewable energy source in an electrolysis unit (2) to a hydrogen production by an electrolysis of an aqueous medium such as water; feeding a hydrogen stream (6) produced in the electrolysis unit of a reactor unit (3) formed to a catalytic production of a hydrocarbon-containing energy carrier current under use of hydrogen and carbon dioxide, and methanol or methane; using the produced hydrocarbon-containing energy carrier stream and partially burning required quantities in a combustion chamber (4) and a thermal energy of a flue gas stream formed in the combustion for producing electrical energy in a gas turbine process and/or a steam turbine process; and partially feeding the flue gas stream as a carbon source for producing the hydrocarbon-containing energy carrier stream of the reactor unit. The reactor unit of an another carbon dioxide stream is supplied from an external carbon dioxide source. The combustion chamber of an another hydrocarbon-containing fossil energy carrier stream is supplied from the external energy source such as a natural gas stream (40). The combustion chamber of an oxygen stream generated in the electrolysis unit is supplied. A pressure-electrolysis unit is provided for producing the hydrogen stream and the oxygen stream, where a hydrogen pressure and/or an oxygen pressure is 60-80 bar. The oxygen stream with a reservoir pressure of = 60 bar is stored in a storage unit, where the oxygen stream taken from the storage unit and is fed from the storage pressure without intermediate compression of the combustion chamber. A cooling water- or condensate stream is guided from the reaction unit and/or the condensate stream deposited from the flue gas stream to the combustion chamber and the electrolysis unit. The production of the energy carrier stream in the reactor unit of released heat of reaction is coupled from the reactor unit. An independent claim is included for an energy carrier-generating plant.
