The invention relates to a method for producing jute and hollow polyester blended yarn, union fabric of said yarn and method of preparing said fabric and shawl from the said yarn. The raw jute is treated with 2% batching oil and blended with hollow polyester to produce the blended yarn. The union fabric of said yarn comprises sized cotton yarns as warp yarns and jute-hollow polyester blended yarns or in combination with cotton yarns as weft yarns. The said union fabric is prepared in handloom mechanism by weaving sized cotton yarns in warp direction and jute- hollow polyester blended yarns in combination with cotton yarns in weft direction. The shawl is prepared by handloom paddle shedding mechanism either as plain weave or as twill weave pattern; in which the warp thread density of the sized cotton yarns are 57 ends/cm and the jute-hollow polyester blended yarn in combination with cotton yarns and/or one from the other types of yarns like viscose yarn/filament, acrylic yarn, polyester spun or filament, polyester texturised filament, polypropylene filament, silk filamrnt/spun, zari as weft yarns which varies from 10 picks/cm to 21 picks/cm; a handloom jacquard for incorporating ornamentation/design on the shawl during weaving and finally the extended warp yarns on both the cut ends are hand knotted. The woven fabric and shawl are washed with mild detergent to remove the sized material present in the cotton warp yarns and subsequently may be finished with suitable chemical/enzyme finish material for better feel of the fabric and shawl.[IN-KOL-2008-01187A]
