摘要

The invention relates to a method of determining the risk of developing oral squamous cell carcinoma, by determining the genotype of rs1138272 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP). This invention is based on the scientific analysis which has shown a statistically significant association between the risk of oral squamous cell carcinoma and rs1138272 SNP. Oral squamous cell carcinoma is a major public health burden. The object of the present invention is to enable identification of individuals who may be at risk of developing oral squamous cell carcinoma well in advance of onset of clinical symptoms. The scope of application of this invention is in the use of the said SNP to provide prophylactic intervention to individuals at risk of developing oral squamous cell carcinoma.
