The present work describes characteristics of heat transfer and friction in a solar air heater where various-shaped ribs are placed transversely to the main stream direction on one wall. The shapes of the ribs investigated are angled (chamfered) rib, right angle triangular rib and reverse L-shaped rib. The advantage with these suggested geometries is that, maximum possible heat transfer enhancement can be acquired at affordable friction loss. Following invention is described in detail with the help of Figure 1 of sheet 1 showing schematic of angled (chamfered) rib, right angle triangular rib and reverse L-shaped rib, Figure 2 of sheet 2 showing pictorial view of rib attached absorber plate and Figure 3 of sheet 2 showing pictorial view of rib shapes used for analysis.
