We hereby disclose an efficient method for optimizing the geometric parameters of a co-axially fed rectangular microstrip antenna using Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm. Geometric parameters of a microstrip antenna are varied simultaneously to obtain optimized length, width,and feed position for a given resonant frequency. This will contribute to facilitate improved antenna designs, especially for small pack antenna systems where, due to space limitations, both length and width are to be adjusted simultaneously in order to achieve the required resonant frequency. The experimental results show the proficiency of the work.
