A method and an optical detection set for monitoring a moving device for containers (210) as the container is lowered onto a transport platform (220) or lifted away from it. The container (210), the position of its pin holes and the position of the locking pins (222) of the transport platform are determined by the optical detection set (100), which comprises a group of optical detection devices (130) measuring diagonally from above the container and the transport platform as the container (210) is lowered or lifted. so that the positions of the containers (210) and the locking pins (222) are determined on the basis of the measurement of the same optical detection devices (130).
