An apparatus is provided for the protection of the female pelvic floor tissues, muscles and nerve from trauma during birth by natural childbirth, the apparatus incorporating a gently expanding intravaginal component capable of being inserted into a vaginal canal and below a front of the fetus, while presenting either in a folded or coiled configuration and unfolded or unwound in front of a configuration for use in the vaginal canal and below the front of the fetus, and a support member containing a cord capable of being attached to the intravaginal component, for intravaginal use and filling, preferably containing pressurized air or liquid, and further dimensioned and delineated to provide with support and stabilization of at least one of the perineal, perianal, and anal regions when held against the female perineal body and perianal region while fixed next to the intravaginal device which is and under the fetal forefront of the vaginal canal, or, in the case of obstructed vaginal birth, and then separated, leaving the inflated intravaginal component in place to prevent or reduce the further development of Abnormal fistuloses between the vagina and either the urinary bladder or the rectum or both.
