PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle sensor which has improved possibility of detection of a failure occurring in the setting by means of an external terminal.SOLUTION: An on-vehicle sensor 1 having n pieces of setting external terminals includes: a connection discrimination part has a connection number to a communication bus of m pieces which satisfies the relation of 2≤m≤2and discriminates the connection state of the n pieces of setting external terminals; an identifier storage part which stores a predetermined m pieces of efficient signals among 2pieces of signals provided by expressing combinations of 2kinds of possible connection states with n bits and stores m pieces of efficient identifiers corresponding to the efficient signals; and an identifier setting part which, when a discrimination signal corresponding to the connection state accords with any of the m pieces of efficient signals, sets the efficient identifier stored corresponding to the efficient signal according with any of the m pieces of efficient signals as an intrinsic identifier. The identifier storage part assigns m pieces of signals selected from among 2pieces of signals alternately located in a signal table provided by arranging 2pieces of signals of n bits in such an order that a signal is different by only one bit from the signal adjacent thereto.
